Roskilde University

Roskilde University was originally established in order to challenge academic traditions and to experiment with new ways to create and acquire knowledge. At RUC we cultivate a project and problem oriented approach to knowledge creation, because we believe that the most relevant results are obtained by solving real problems in collaboration with others. We employ an interdisciplinary approach because no major problems are ever resolved on the basis of any single academic discipline alone.

Strong research and education in e.g. Economics and Business Administration, Environmental Risk, Global Studies, International Public Administration and Politics, Social Entrepreneurship and Management, Communication Studies, International Development Studies, Mathematics, Molecular Biology, Physics

Research Profile

The University's research is organized into six Departments that are characterised by multi-disciplinary approaches across traditional discipline boundaries. The research has a special focus on responding to societal needs for knowledge and addressing complex issues in more holistic ways than is typically the case with traditional single disciplinarity.

City of Roskilde

Roskilde University is a one-campus university located in beautiful green surroundings between the capital, Copenhagen, and the historic city of Roskilde, which is known for its UNESCO world heritage listed cathedral, the Viking Ship Museum and the largest music festival in Northern Europe – The Roskilde Festival.

Academic Calendar

The official semester start is September 1 for the autumn semester and February 1 for the spring semester. However, we encourage you to participate in the Foundation Course prior to semester start.
It is free of charge for exchange and guest students. Many international students participate in the Foundation Course and appreciate their experience for the rest of the semester. In the autumn semester the course runs in the end of August and in the spring semester the course runs in the end of January.

Accommodation

Finding student accommodation in Denmark can be difficult. Accommodation in dormitories is in great demand. However, Roskilde University has secured a limited number of rooms for our exchange students on campus. Read more here: https://ruc.dk/en/accommodation-exchange-students
